  • To generate the main points into one sentence, you will need to use grammatical methods, such as conjunctions (and, but, the), conditional clauses (if, when, where) and relative clauses (who, which, that).

 

  • Always try to have only one sentence. Make sure your answer has a capital letter at the start and ends with a full stop. Also, check that you have used commas appropriately within your sentence.

Utilize your reading skills:
1. Take your time to read the passage comfortably. First of all, scan for the general topic, then read carefully for the main ideas.
2. Use your erasable noteboard to capture the main hint and supporting hint using keywords and symbols to indicate how the hints are organized. Actual note-taking will ensure that your summary has all the vital points.

 

The way you should build your summary:
1. Type the key point of the passage in the box then add the supporting or other details.
2. Remember your response must be one sentence only between 5 and 75 words.
3. You must use grammatical structures and punctuation that allow you to include all your points within one sentence.
4. Use the Cut, Copy, and Paste buttons to move text around. There is a word counter below the writing box and a timer running at the top of the screen in the real exam.

Review your response

1. Spare some time (at least 2 minutes) to check your grammar and vocabulary in your response. Check if your sentence begins with a capital letter and end with a full stop.
2. Your answer will not get marks if it is more than one sentence or if it is written all in capital letters.
3. At the end of 10 minutes, the screen will stop responding.
