PTE & IELTS Causes Solution Essay – Tobacco (Form of Cigarettes)

Smoking is a common habit prevalent in today’s era. Initially, smoking seems to be a one-time experience to people, but gradually it turns into a habit. Despite knowing that there are a lot of diseases due to smoking, people still fall into this trap. Drug abuse is considered bad in the texts. Smoking is such a slow poison that slowly poisons the body and the lungs are the ones severely affected.

Millions of people are victims of many serious diseases from tobacco, and before they can even realize the consequences of such diseases, they become victims of death. Sometimes at a young age, effects of family environment, as well as peer pressure, cause tobacco addiction. Harmful effects of tobacco which cause several diseases are high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, acidity, insomnia, heart diseases and many more severe illnesses.

Awareness of chewing tobacco and its ill effects are the best way to reduce the consumption of tobacco products. The government has taken steps like the ban on smoking in public places, imposing high taxes on tobacco-related products and generating awareness against tobacco products. School-based programs with evidence of effectiveness containing specific components can reduce the prevalence of tobacco use among school-aged youth. Thus, the government, NGOs and local bodies have encouraged people to quit smoking as well as tobacco. Mass media, campaigns, comprehensive community programs, and comprehensive statewide tobacco control programs can prevent the initiation of tobacco use and reduce its prevalence among youth.

The onus to protect from such products also lies with an individual’s willpower. Thus, the solution requires both legitimate action of Government and strong individual decisions to eliminate the problem.
