IELTS & PTE Essay Topic with Solutions – Internet And Communication

The recent studies have revealed that people nowadays spend more time on the internet than with real humans. Internet which was supposed to be a way of opening up new communication possibilities worldwide is now a huge concern. As soon as people reach home from their workplace, schools, colleges, they hit the couch and their hands reach out for their cell phones or laptops. Teenagers play online games all day long. Think about it. How many times did you actually enjoy your meals with family or friends? In one hand, you have your phone and on the other, you have your food. Parents are sitting right next to you, waiting for a small talk but you are too engrossed in your phone to notice them.

Thanks to the internet, people have disconnected from the society they are living in. All we do is – post about our feelings, problems, emotions on social media while we are unaware of our own family’s problems because we don’t have time for them.

What do you think? That the founder of ‘apple’ used to spend all of his days using different gadgets? Why shouldn’t he? He’s the founder and his children would be blessed because they can play games all day long and use any phone? His family is blessed of course, but you ‘ll be surprised to know that his children can take phones in their hands for 1 hour a day, not more than that.

We have forgotten the value of time and value of relations. All we do is scroll down the news feed or chat endlessly with strangers. Internet was supposed to help us, develop us, connect people from different countries, but instead, it has disconnected people.
Of course, we can get information about anything, instantly from the internet, thanks to Wikipedia.  It’s a great help for students. But the problem is that we have gotten addicted to it. Even if we get 5 minutes off from anything we start checking our phones. Overuse of internet makes our brain activities slower and poorer eyesight, obviously when you don’t take your eyes off the screen, what else do you expect?

Children need to make judicious use of internet according to their needs and not use it just to kill time. Parents too should regulate the usage of internet and insist children engage in conversations whenever they are together. Pull your children out from the virtual world. That’s not where they live. We have disconnected from our real world and that is something to be concerned about.
