Lately, there seems to be a great number of young adults making the news for causing harm to others. Now the question arises whether the parents of these children are responsible or not for the negligent and intentional acts of their children. Some people think that they are responsible for the behaviour of their children while some people think that parents cannot take responsibility for their children’s attitudes.

Children spend more time with their parents in childhood, which helps children to learn language, culture, and manners by observing their parents in their early age. For instance, after Thomas Alva Edison’s school teacher called him mentally ill in a letter, Edison’s mother homeschooled him so that he could reach his full potential. But if parents fail to fulfil this duty, then they should be held responsible for their children’s activities.

In the American legal system, many parents are punished for their child’s behaviour. Parents are aware of the positive and negative side of a child. If they fail to point out the mistakes of their children, then indirectly they are responsible for the child’s act. There is a direct link between children’s behaviour and their parents’ teaching.

Kids act in a way they are brought up by their parents. Teaching kids the difference between right and wrong is their responsibility and should not be delegated to somebody else. When it comes to raising kids, we all need to talk and teach by example. Thus, parents should be held responsible for their kid’s behaviour.
