Some people think that success is the best measure of intelligence, while others think that intelligence can be measured in other ways. What is your opinion?
Can success be used to measure intelligence? Is it important to have an IQ of 140 or above to be successful? Not really! According to a survey, IQ has only 1-2% effect on success. If being intelligent was enough to be successful then why hasn’t every intelligent person tasted success?
Intelligence is one of the many reasons for someone to be successful but it’s not solely responsible for success. A person may lack confidence, have poor social skills, may not know how to dress up, may not know how to behave in an interview. Intelligence is measured on the basis of school grades. And school grades don’t guarantee that a person would be successful in life if his school grades are excellent.
Then what is really important to success? That’s your personality! Yes, personality counts! And the good news is that our personality and character are flexible. They change with the change in circumstances and passions.
Have you ever read anywhere written that this is the IQ of the successful people? No! What you always read is the common personality traits among the successful people.
Hard work, consistency, enthusiasm, dedication, determination are some of the personality traits which lead to success.
A lot of people refuse a job offer thinking that they don’t have the brains to do it. Intelligence has a little effect on success. What makes you successful is your personality and character. So next time instead of asking yourself if your IQ is high enough to do something, ask yourself if you have the personality and character to do it. And if your answer comes out to be ‘not yet’, don’t worry. Personality is not fixed. It can always be changed for the better.
