PTE Describe Image Tips – Points To Remember In Making Paragraphs (Line/ Bar Graph/ Pie Chart)

1. First Sentence – How to say the first sentence?

You can start with the graph either it is Line graph or a Bar graph or Pie chart. The graph _______ (shows, illustrates, compares, depicts). For instance, “The graph shows internet usage in America by age group 2015-2020.

2. Heading of the graph –

Next is heading of the graph which we just prepared in the preparation time. This is second item to look on. So just say the heading of the graph. “The line graph shows Consumption of carrots” or “The line graph shows import and export of Australia and India from 2010 to 2020. And the projected value of the year (if the data is given in future, he can say “Projected value for the year is 1000 and 1200.

So the first sentence will be “The line graph shows “Consumption of potatoes and carrots in America from 1990 to 2010 and the projected value for the year 2020”. This is how you will construct your first sentence.

3. Second Sentence –

We can start like “The _______ was maximum” (means the verb) – The “consumption” was maximum or the “sale” was maximum or minimum. We can start either with maximum or minimum. The consumption was maximum in 1990 and this is totally optional if you gonna say this which was a proximately 70% and then it increase/decrease/remained constant or then it increases significantly and reached to minimum/maximum in 2012. After that, it again became maximum/minimum/constant. This is how you can explain your second and third sentence. Start with minimum or maximum figure. The sales

This is how you can explain your second and third sentence. Start with minimum or maximum figure. The sales were maximum in 2010 and then it increases significantly or it decreases significantly and then reached to that particular figure.

4. Third and Fourth Sentences –

In third and fourth sentences, either you can compare or you can start with other variables, just like “On the other hand or you can start with any other variable, or you can say any exception. Exception means “Suppose the sales were maximum during the whole period and then one year they decreased suddenly. So this type of exception you can explain or you can compare any two variables. If there are lots of variables like 10-12 variables are given in one image, make sure you can compare one or two variables together in a single sentence. Don’t go into the too much penetrating study.

5. Fifth Sentence –

The last sentence will be the conclusion. In conclusion, don’t stress too much. Just say anything related to the graph which you think is the conclusion, just say it. Don’t stress too much and don’t try to find a perfect conclusion because this will take time and you will lose your fluency.
