Sample Essay With Answer –

People get punished for committing a crime so that they’ll mend their ways and refrain from causing further harm to anyone. But there has been an increase in crimes committed by offenders who have already served in prison. Why is it happening?
There are numerous reasons for that.

It can happen because of people’s behaviour towards the criminals, difficulty in finding the job, disrespect in society. Instead of just sending offenders to prison, they should be made to realise their mistakes. It depends upon the crime and the criminal too. If someone is skilful but still jobless and without a single penny in the pockets, what can you expect them to do? There are high chances that the person would steal.

Influential people walk free even after murdering someone. They have no fear of law and order. They know no matter which crime they commit, they ‘ll eventually walk free. So, they commit crimes over and over again, without any fear. People commit heinous crimes over and over again because they know they can get away with it. If convicted, even in prisons, influential people enjoy king’s lifestyle.

One time offenders after walking free commit crimes again because society shuns them. They roam around jobless and have nothing to do, even if they are skilled workers. Politicians commit grave crimes because they can pressurise the media and the police and get away with it. We are at fault. The government, the law and order are at fault. Criminals should be severely punished if they continue committing crimes. Punishment should be rewarded after thoroughly studying the circumstances under which the crime was committed. E.g killing someone while defending yourself. It’s not like it can be justified in the name of self-defence, but sometimes it can be. As in the case of rapes, if the girl kills the rapist in her self-defence, it can be justified.

The conditions, the circumstances, mental health and everything should be considered before punishing and granting bail.
