How much is our world globalised? Are we really living in a globalised world?
You’ll be surprised to know migrants make only 3% of the total population, international students make only 2% of the student population, tourists make only 16% of the total arrivals. Yes, we do travel and trade across borders but not very far from our neighboring countries. So to what extent is our world globalised? Not much! Whether globalisation has swept our world to a small extent or to a large extent But is it good for our economy?
Globalisation has increased free trade between the countries. It has eradicated cultural barriers. Global mass media has helped to tie the world together. It has reduced the probability of war between countries to a great extent. Competitiveness in globalisation results in better labor protection and reduced monopoly benefits.

Unfortunately, our world is finite with finite sources and globalisation uses our natural resources very rapidly. It has done irreversible damage to our ecosystem and has polluted our environment to a great extent. Globalisation has resulted in unemployment in the weaker sections of the society. It has led to the interdependence of countries on each other making a country more vulnerable to the macro economic problems elsewhere. Despite the benefits of free trade between countries, the gap between the rich and the poor has only widened.
Is there nothing that we can do about it? One of the main agents of globalisation are the governments. The government should make globalistaion transparent for investors and depositors and make provision for international financial cooperation. Government can make regulations to enjoy maximum benefits of globalisation.

Although glabalisation has many drawbacks either positively or negatively, it has improved economy of the developing countries.
