Rearranging Jumbled Sentences With Answers – PTE Exam Preparation –

Let’s find an independent sentence first –

Point (A), “He studied” – this can’t be the first sentence. There must be a name of a person. This can’t be the first one.
Point (B), “His wealthy family”, again this can’t be the first sentence.
Point (C), “Francis was a French composer and pianist.”. This could be first.
Point (D), “In his later years” can’t be the first sentence.
Point (E), “His composition” can’t be the first sentence. There must be a name of a person.

So technically, Point (C) is the first sentence.

Let’s find the second sentence –

Point (A), this can be second, we can’t deny.
Point (B), this is about family background.
Point (D), “for decades after his death” this can’t be the second paragraph because in this they have talked related to later years.
Point (E), this can be the second. First, they told Francis was a French composer and pianist. His compositions include melodies, solo piano works, chamber music, choral pieces, operas, ballets, and orchestral concert music. So point (D) is our second sentence.

Third sentence – point (B) – family intended him for a business career and not allow him to enroll at a music college.

Fourth sentence – If you read point (A) and (B), you can easily identify the sequence of both sentences. In point (B) person said his parents did not allow him to enroll at music college. And in point (A) they said – Largely self-educated musically. So his parents didn’t allow him to go music college so he studied by himself. He was self-educated. In paragraph (A) his parents have already died and in point (B) parents intended him for a business career. So point (A) will be our fourth sentence. “for decades after his death”, in this the writer is talking related to the death of the person and after his death, what his reputation will be.
